One day I was bemoaning the fact I didn’t have time to cruise on down to the Red River Gorge or wander out to Raven Run Nature Preserve and do some shooting. The sky was perfect with white floss against a deep blue. The temperature was perfect for hiking and I could almost hear the streams and waterfalls calling me, but…
I had things I had to do and while I had a bit of time, I couldn’t spare the several hours it would take to make one of those journeys.
So, with that crazy photo bug biting me, I just grabbed my camera and went out into the front yard. After glancing around I thought I take a shot of the cone flowers. They were bright and bobbing in the sun and seemed a likely place for my lens to land.
As I came up to them, I saw a bit of a flitter and rush… and there in front of me was this scene. Fortunately, the flutterbug felt like being a model model on this day, and I was able to shoot quite a few before he decided to bug on out…
That’s the way it is with bugs.
So next time I’m groaning over not having the resource to venture to one of my favorite haunts, I’ll walk outside the house and try to cure what’s bugging me.
You’ll never know what you’ll find in your own front yard.
