Sometime Springtime… Soon?
While I enjoy all the seasons… yes, I do love winter, but I am looking forward to spring in my Kentucky woods.
Ruth Oremus, Terry Bailey and I wandered down to Rockcastle County one chilly April morning. Anglin Falls was our destination. Of course, we had to stop many times along the way to shoot various things; a roadside creek, and old man at a yard sale, an abandoned cabin… you know, the stuff we photogs always look to shoot. Ultimately, we did make it to Anglin.
It’s a short hike back to the falls through a really nice “holler.” Along the way we stopped frequently; shooting this plant, that rock, those ‘shrooms, whatever we happened upon (including the turtle Ruth was smiling at below!) By the time we actually got to the falls, our time was short, so didn’t get as many shots of this really nice spot as we would have liked.
One of the stops, actually just below where we could first see the falls, I spotted some “early adopters” starting their skyward meanderings. Just looking at the little fiddlin’ fellers made me smile, and the sun beaming across them just accentuated the positive of that promise of spring.
This winter has been an interesting one, and I’m sure there is much more in store. I do love the hush of a snow covered meadow, the soft whoosh as snow falls off of a high pine bough. I love the ice stalactites and stalagmites of rocky overhangs. I love the crystal formations on creekside banks.
But too… you know…
Sometime Springtime… Soon?
