This shot took a bit of work to make it look like I saw it. As I didn’t have great studio lighting or even a studio, this was attempted on a table with reading lamps. The colors in the peppercorns were too muted and the highlights were really, really over the top.
Enter Photoshop… and thank you Photoshop. This was also one of the first times I started using Photoshop to make my images look like what they felt like when I first shot them. For this, I had to bump the colors of the peppercorns and the reflections. I had to soften the reflections on the stainless steel measuring spoons. I also did quite a bit of fumbling around… as my familarity with Photoshop was limited!
I liked it… and still like doing food photography…
And of course, eating my subject matter!
