I was once again at the UK Arboretum, a favorite place to do a few quick shots at the end of the day. I was wandering around with my photobud, Terry Bailey, when we rounded a corner at a tall rock wall and saw this wonderful hanging plant. The sun was almost at the point of dropping out of sight, and the warm beams were casting almost horizontal warm orange beams into the flowers. It was beautiful.
We shot as fast as we could, taking turns trying to catch the light just right. There was a bit of a breeze so catching it still in the slowly fading light was a challenge… especially since we only had a very few short minutes till the sun dropped below the skyline.
I’ve been back to that very spot dozens of times trying to catch the same feel and light we enjoyed that night… but it’s never been quite the same.
Make sure you always grab the moment… it may not come again!
