Food Photography: Pro Secrets for Styling, Lighting & Shooting…

My review!

As many of you know, I love to cook…

Ruth and I take every opportunity we get to cook up a special meal and of course, shoot it!   In fact I am starting to do more food photography to try and build a portfolio of shots (even have an upcoming website of shots Ruth and I have taken, along with some great recipes! )

SO… I perused Amazon for books on the subject… as I love to learn this stuff.

Came across a book that was ridiculously inexpensive.  $7.00 or so… so I ordered it.   It was by a blogger named Lara Ferroni. The reviews were good and the preview looked good as well.

This book was way past worth it. While some of it dwells on things that are pretty basic to someone even somewhat proficient with a DSLR, there were great lighting, styling and propping ideas.    There were…

GREAT FOOD SHOTS!

SO I looked for more recent books of hers.   This one was published in March of 2012.   To my surprise, I found a few more, but none after 2014.

I googled her, and found her blog, also nothing after 2014.   It seems from her blog she got involved with a project that absorbed her and was her calling.   What a shame, as this was an excellent book.

And speaking of which.  The book is almost 1/2 case studies with the info on the photographer, the idea, equipment, lighting, inspiration etc. carefully outlined.  THIS is the most valuable part of the book, although it all is very good material.   Much of what she goes into is applicable to product photography of any kind.

OK… go buy it… Food Photography, Pro Secrets for Styling, Lighting & Shooting.

… and stay tuned for more food fotog..
